Things to Do When You Visit Dubai, UAE

Dubai, located along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula, is the most populate city in the United Arab Emirates. Dubai has a population of 2.6 million people, and covers just over 1000 square miles. While Dubai was built as an oil empire, it has more recently become a tourism capital with over six million visitors enjoying the shopping, cultural attractions, and historical landmarks. In fact, Dubai is the 8th most visited country in the world.

Dubai is best known for commerce. It is best known as "The shopping capital of the Middle East." Dubai has earned this distinction because of its famous Souq Districts, or shopping districts, where goods of all kinds are available for purchase or trade. The Mall of the Emirates, The Ibn Battuta Mall, and the Mall of Arabia are three of the most famous and prominent shopping centers Dubai has to offer. All three of these malls rival any American mall, and they are complete with large multiple screen theaters, amazing shops, and interactive experiences. The Mall of the Emirates, in fact, offers over 200,000 square meters of shopping with over 70 restaurants, a 14 screen movie theater, and a community theater.

While shopping is the primary draw to Dubai, there are other ways to spend your time. For example if you enjoy art, then you should make a stop by the Art Attack Gallery, a local hot spot for young and emerging artists from the Middle East. If cultural art and artifacts are more your style then you can visit the Al Fahidi Fort and Dubai Museum which features, among other things, a collection of classic weaponry including cannons, swords and knives.

If you are in need of something completely unique, consider a stop by the Dolphinarium, the first indoor dolphin aquarium in the Middle East. If Dolphins in the desert are not unique enough, plan a visit to the Olympic-sized Dubai Ice Rink where you can learn to play hockey or enjoy a round of ice skating. After these unique experiences, you should certain visit the Gold and Spice Souq where the skilled haggler can walk away with a fortune of gold or spice for pennies on the dollar
